I'm still alive. Maybe I lost my blog password for three month. Maybe I played a little bit too much Castle Crashers. Maybe I disconnected from the internet. Talk is cheap, silence is golden. Maybe I just didn't have anything to say. However something occurred to me. I thought I would share. First I have to make the argument that advertising costs the customers money. Money in extra money spent on products they don't need. Money in a higher priced product because of advertising. Second I have to say that advertising hurts a product. This is partially because your goals shift between satisfying the advertiser and satisfying the customer. Neither party is completely satisfied. I know these two items are not certainties. However, I feel that fundamentally given a product that is sponsored by ads, I think a better product can be made that is paid for directly by the consumer rather then indirectly through ads. Its simply a matter of taking out the middle man. Removing the middle man would fundamentally make a better product. However a middle man is sometimes required because of an imperfect system. We need a middle man because we don't have trivial micro payments. Its very difficult to pay directly for shows that you want to watch. The next revolution in the internet will be direct trivial micro payments. It will create brand new high quality software and media products.
